Hey wonderful people! oh my goodness- yall are all SO ENCOURAGING! the sweetest people ever, i adore each and every one of you!! PS- I reply to all of your comments. I am not sure if you get an email or not? I read every single comment and respond to them! Yall are AWESOME.

Lately Ive been learning a lot (whats new?! I guess I have a lot to learn. actually- i KNOW I have a lot to learn!) and ive been thinking about insecurities. Usually we know our insecurities, we know they are there, but how often do we truly FACE them!? The Lord has helped me FACE my insecurities lately and getting down to the very root of them. Yeah, its not easy and its not fun either.. but we are going to continue to produce dysfunctional branches from the same insecurity if we dont get down to the ROOT of them! we can chop the branches off all we want, but they will always grow back. Yeah, they may not always look the same.. BUT they have the same root!! So anyway, its so crazy how God loves us so much that He wants to DIG into our “mess” and get it out of us. Who else would want to do that? So I encourage you all to really FACE your insecurities, ask God what the root is, and ask Him to dig it out of you. Dont be surprised if He wants you to get a little uncomfortable!! Nobody ever said it was going to be easy, but the freedom around the corner is SO worth it!!

I am home for the first time since August- I am so excited to RELAX!! This is much needed down time. Love you all!!

What are you doing this weekend?

Ohhhh insecurities. I have so many. You are so right that God can truly help us to face them and conquer them, but it seems like no matter how many times God helps me conquer them, another arises in its place! But I’m pretty sure God does that on purpose so that I will keep turning to him ;)

    • October 6, 2011 5:44 pm

I absolutely love how open you are about your heart and what God is doing/has done in your life!!! and how tightly you cling to the Lord- so encouraging!

Wow-It’s been so long since I’ve asked HIM to show me my insecurities. They are so revealing and usually rooted in fear.
Thanks for the reminder to get with HIM and allow HIM to reveal what those insecurities/fears are. :)

This weekend-a little babysitting, church, and the gym. woo hoo!

  5. September 30, 2011 6:38 pm

    Hey girly!

It’s been awhile since I’ve read your blog (been on an internet hiatus lol) and I’m happy to be back. I think the topic of insecurities is great for a blog post. I’ve been working with a holistic nutritionist on fixing my own insecurities, and I’ve also been reading “A New Earth” by Eckhart Tolle. It’s a wonderful book on how to get to the root of the problem and how to have balance in life. Thanks for this post :)

  10. September 30, 2011 10:01 pm

You said it sister! Sometimes this world makes us so blind to our insecurities, but it is God who forces them out of us! Your posts are always so thought-provoking :)

    • October 6, 2011 5:42 pm

Gosh the world really does make us blind. Everything is revealed in Gods light tho!

  11. September 30, 2011 10:18 pm

not only does he want to dig into our mess, but he wants to help us clean it up and hand it over to him. Amazing!!

  12. September 30, 2011 11:44 pm

I am going to visit my mom this weekend :-) I am also having my little nephew over for a sleepover.

  13. October 1, 2011 1:07 am

I think you hit the nail on the head. We all have insecurities but getting to the root of WHY we feel that way is what is really going to help us get over them. Have a wonderful weekend my love!

  14. October 1, 2011 1:50 am

Amen to everything you said about insecurities. I’ve learned a lot over the summer about what makes me insecure, and I’ve learned to really cling to God with all my heart, because really he is the only thing that will never be shaken. All other securities can be ripped out from right under me in the blink of an eye, but God is a secure foundation :)

    • October 6, 2011 5:41 pm

THAT is so beautiful!!! :) its so crazy how we dont really even learn that until our securities are actually ripped from us- then we see where our heart is. and thats scary but so awesome!!

  15. October 1, 2011 1:56 am

yeah girl! LOVE this post! insecurities are so hard to get rid of but its a positive attitude that rly helps :)

    • October 6, 2011 5:40 pm

  16. October 1, 2011 2:13 am

oh I needed to hear this today. God is definitely putting me out of my comfort zone and do I like it? Well, it’s not easy that’s for sure! But it’s going to be so worth it. I am growing into a much stronger person and am so thankful.

  18. October 1, 2011 1:30 pm

Insecurities? Yep, definitely have those. They are tough to overcome, but taking that step and going out of your comfort zone makes such a difference! Thanks for the reminder. :) Oh, and avocado in enchiladas sounds like the best idea ever.

  19. October 1, 2011 7:33 pm

Working in an industry (beauty-cosmetology) of 99% (don’t quote me on that) women I finally realized we are all, every single one of us insecure in one way or another and I think it’s awesome that you are allowing God to work through you in that way! There are so many things that will never be gone for good but man can we relate to other women who are going through the same thing and allow God to be the center.

Love your heart and spirit, keep shining!

    • October 6, 2011 5:39 pm

Wow I bet you learn so much through that industry!!! I agree completely. we can so relate to each other- and thats a HUGE blessing! love you sista!

  20. October 1, 2011 8:22 pm

Glad you are getting some time to relax at home!
and you’re right…insecurities are often hidden, but when we take time to address them, we become more confident, beautiful people.

    • October 6, 2011 5:39 pm

Absolutely love that positive comment at the end girl- amen!

  21. October 2, 2011 3:26 am

i think its the best sign when we know we have lots of learn. we always need to grow and change and learn and grow some more- its the best way to understand and continue to discover ourselves huh. You are spot on with learning from insecurity- they teach us so much about ourselves..or at least what we have come to tell ourselves ;)

i will definitely be holding onto your words- FACE insecurity, it’s oh so true…like holding a mirror up to our face to see inside and to see the reflection looking back, bad or good, right or wrong :)

    xoxo <3

    • October 6, 2011 5:38 pm

That first part- that is so beautiful. thank you so much for sharing that!! Amen!! this is our time to learn a LOT. and so true about the mirror analogy- love that! love YOU

I love this post — I just wrote something similar! It seems that I need to start working more on my self-worth and who I AM rather than how much I do, exercise, and eat right. Good for you girl!

    • October 6, 2011 5:37 pm

YES exactly!!! Its so easy to put our worth in silly things like that but it never ever lasts

  24. October 2, 2011 10:28 pm

I am “so good” at being insecure… obviously not something you want to excel in. I need to start working on this too… I am so sick of being down on myself

  25. October 5, 2011 3:56 pm

Love this post Katie. :) You always put into words what I am vaguely feeling—then I’m like, DUH! Thank you for that. I always feel like I know how to talk to God just a little better when I leave your blog!!

  30. October 8, 2011 4:22 am

Oh my goodness I REALLY needed this today! It has been such a week of insecurities for me…I need to realize that I find my security in HIM and not in the things of this world. Thank you for the wonderful reminder :) LOVE YOUUUU!!!

  31. October 30, 2011 5:57 am

“we can chop the branches off all we want, but they will always grow back. Yeah, they may not always look the same.. BUT they have the same root!!” I know that this is NOT your own wisdom, but Holy Spirit’s amazing words of truth! I love this analogy because it’s so true that we can always mask things or push them under the rug…only for so long though. That’s why I always want and NEED for God to change me from the inside out! It’s just so much easier to let Him do the work in us, rather than us trying to do it and then let it blow up in front of us! I have missed you terribly and welcome back~~~Rest a lot!! It’s an art that most of us U.S.’ers need to learn haha. :D It’s a gift and discipline He wants us to learn, at least for me. Muah! <3

  32. November 6, 2011 8:39 pm
